On the summit, at 2,165 metres
The observatory that measures the air of the Mediterranean
On the top of Cimone works the «Ottavio Vittori» Climate Observatory of CNR-ISAC. With an open horizon and far from major sources of pollution, it has been measuring greenhouse gases, aerosols and solar radiation without interruption since 1996.
It is one of the 31 global stations of the World Meteorological Organization's Global Atmosphere Watch programme: the only one in Italy and in the whole Mediterranean basin.
